Training & Career Progression

Start with support. Grow with experience.

Whether you’re completely new to care or already have experience, we want you to feel confident, supported and able to keep developing.

At CM Community Care, training continues throughout your career. From your initial induction to further qualifications and opportunities to progress, we’ll help you build the skills you need for your role and your future in care.

New to care? You can start here.

Previous care experience isn’t essential for every role.

We look for people with the right values, attitude and willingness to learn. If you’re compassionate, dependable and genuinely want to make a difference to people’s lives, we can provide the training and support to help you develop the practical skills you need to work confidently in home care.

For people exploring Care Assistant jobs or care jobs across the West Midlands, this means you can begin a career in care even if your previous experience is in a completely different sector.

Your first weeks with CM

Starting somewhere new can feel like a big step, which is why support during your first weeks is an important part of joining CM.

Your induction and initial training will help prepare you for the role, understand how CM works and build your confidence before you settle into day to day care.

Once you’re working, the support continues through ongoing training, supervision and guidance from the wider team.

Keep learning. Keep progressing.

Care can open the door to a much wider career.

CM supports ongoing development, including opportunities to work towards NVQ Level 3, 4 and 5 qualifications as you gain experience and take on more responsibility.

For those looking to progress within CM, this can lead to opportunities such as:

  • Senior Care Assistant roles
  • Coordination and office based positions
  • Care management and leadership roles

Where possible, we believe in developing our own people and creating opportunities to progress from within.

Where could a career in care take you?

The experience and skills you develop in a Care Assistant or home care role can also become the foundation for a wider career in healthcare.

People who begin their careers as carers can go on to pursue paths such as nursing, paramedicine and other healthcare professions, building on the practical experience and understanding gained while supporting people every day.

What do we look for?

You don’t need to arrive knowing everything. What matters is having the right approach.

We look for people who are:

  • Compassionate and respectful
  • Dependable
  • Willing to learn
  • Comfortable working with different people
  • Committed to providing person centred care
  • Ready to think beyond the task in front of them

That last point is an important part of Care Beyond Care. It means understanding the person behind the care plan and recognising the small things that can make their day better.

Ready to start your next chapter?

Whether care is a completely new direction or the next step in your career, CM can give you the training, experience and support to keep moving forward.

If you’re looking for Care Assistant jobs or a long term career in care across the West Midlands, we’d love to hear from you.
